UF recovers drag out paint, which is otherwise wasted
|
About 20-25% of paint that is supplied to ED-tank is carried out as
liquid paint with jobs being coated. This paint does not form
coating film so it is an enormous waste. UF reclaims more than 95%
of this drag out paint. HOW is it done? ED bath paint is fed to UF filter under pressure. When the paint contacts the UF membrane under pressure, small molecule components such as water, solvent and inorganic salts pass through the membrane's pores, while larger molecule components such as resin and pigments can not pass through the pore and retained on the paint side and is returned back to the ED bath. The part that pass through the membrane is called PERMEATE. PERMEATE is used as the rinse solution after E-coating. As the works come out of the tank they carry out extra paint attached on the work¡¯s surface. This drag out paint is rinsed by the rinsing solution (PERMEATE) and returned back to the paint bath. Net result is to recovery of the drag out paint. |
Improve surface finish
|
After E-coating, the jobs are baked in the oven. If the job is not
well rinsed, the liquid paint sitting on the job¡¯s surface will
leave undesirable random marks making a poorly finished surface.
Rinsing jobs surface thoroughly with UF permeate improves finished
surface. |
Controls bath contamination and excessive solvent.
Inorganic salts are carried by the jobs into the ED-bath from pre-treatment tanks. In some case excessive solvent builds up in the bath. Both of these excessive components cause painting problems. UF solves these problems.
How is it done?
As mentioned earlier, PERMEATE contains inorganic salts, solvent and water. So by draining PERMEATE both salts and solvent are removed from the paint bath.
As seen UF is a very important part of the E-coat system, and failure of UF means poor finishing quality and poor economy. Therefore, we kindly request that proper maintenance attention be given every day.
